I've read in the past from Adobe people noting that the Flash Player is a loss leader and is being financed from the profit of suite of other Adobe products.

The ultimate goal for Flash was to be the best export format for the web and to play as an omphalos in the Adobe ecosystem of products. Eventually it was meant to help sell more CS suites and it's not going to do that good enough anymore.

Is Adobe losing money on Flash? Do you have any numbers which back up your statements regarding Adobe's finances?

Flash and Silverlight need their own programming platform, HTML5 just any text editor. Also Flash and Silverlight need a plugin to work! The coding is quiet complex, and they lack the conversion to mobile technology, so no, they forgot about the future ups. We don't need more fancy stuff, we need practicality!

It's OK, I never bothered to write here about myself but never bothered to hide either. Maybe I'll change that, maybe I'll even post a pic...

Anyhow, thanx for the references, and again - good job.

Hey Guy,

I just updated the blog post with your name! Sorry for not digging a little deeper. I assumed that someone who runs a blog that doesn't mention their name would probably use private whois, as well. :)

Thanks again for doing the foundational work here and for posting about what you did. I'm really glad that Adobe fixed this quickly.
